Rope was selected as the ProRodeo Athlete of the Year by Athletes International. Athletes International is a non-profit organization whose vision is to reach the lost for Christ using the extensive platform athletes are given. Their Annual Awards Banquet honors chosen athletes, coaches, and administrators for their professional achievements as well as their Godly action taken to positively reach their community and the world with the profession of their faith. Some of the past award recipients include: Coach Tom Landry, Coach Bill McCartney, Deion Sanders, David Robinson, Ernie Ladd, Rayfield Wright, Dave Johnson, Kay Woy, Rosey Grier, Reggie White, Wayman Tisdale, and A.C. Green. The Awards Banquet will take place on Friday, June 28th, 2002 in Scottsdale, AZ. The banquet was part of Athletes International's annual conference PHOENIX 2002, a 4-day experience for Christian athletes of all sports, ages and positions.
